One child stated: “One visit every year doesn’t build a bond it just builds and rebreaks trust in us. I learned not to depend on people’s presence in my life because of this.” All those promoting “open adoption” to coerce vulnerable mothers to accept it – or promote the tearing apart of biological families to society should take note of the children’s real life experience and the dreadful psychological damage they suffer. Barnardos is a big promoter of open adoption – which means allowing mothers to visit their child twice a year. Sick! Why not help families stay together – but those who desire other people’s children don’t want that – they would rather prey on vulnerable families and in the process commodify children.
